Matsa Resources (MAT) has recommenced drilling at the Fortitude North prospect within the company’s flagship Lake Carey gold project in Western Australia.

The initial reverse circulation program will involve 3310 metres of focused drilling, focusing on the northern strike extent of the prospect.

The program will target shallow, high-grade gold mineralisation identified and modelled through recent work, with an aim of establishing a maiden resource over that part of the mineralised zone.

Matsa’s previous reverse circulation and drilling in the area returned 9.4 metres at 3.27 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 120.8 metres, and eight metres at 2.94 g/t gold from 106.3 metres.

Further assays included five metres at  5.46 g/t gold from 79 metres and four metres at 13.63 g/t gold from 79 metres.

The company said it expects to wrap up drilling by mid-February, with first assay results received from the work in the March 2023 quarter.

Matsa Resources was up 2.63 per cent to trade at 3.9 cents at 11:48 am AEDT.
