- Extensive gravity survey commences at Leinster South

Explorer Metal Hawk (ASX:MHK) has this week commenced an extensive geophysical ground gravity survey to help define drill targets at the Leinster South project in Western Australia, targeting shear-hosted gold mineralisation within the mostly granitic rocks east of Tysons prospect.

The high-resolution ground gravity survey will cover areas examined in regional aeromagnetic surveys completed by the company in CY25, which identified a number of significant structural features.
No drilling has been conducted over this target area east of Tysons to date, and the detailed gravity survey will cover a broad 14 sq. km area extending east from the extensive granite-greenstone contact at the southeastern margin of the Lawlers Anticline.
Metal Hawk’s managing director, Will Belbin, said the survey aims to identify and map potential gold-bearing structures situated within the untested granitic rocks, which are largely obscured by shallow cover. Approximately 1,100 gravity readings will be collected on 200m by 50m and 400m by 50m grids.
“We are continuing to advance new regional target areas,” Mr Belbin said.
“We have outlined a specific structural target zone within the untested granite east of Tysons, which we believe has potential to host significant high-grade gold mineralisation.
“The detailed gravity survey will cover the extensive gold corridor along the N-S trending granite-greenstone contact as well as a significant broad area of structural interest east of Tysons.”
The gravity data will be processed and integrated with the recently flown Leinster South aeromagnetics in order to further refine and prioritise key structures for further investigation. Geochemical soil sampling has also been conducted over the target area with initial results expected in May-June.
Following completion of the gravity survey, the results will then be combined with the receipt of assays from recently completed soil geochemical surveys, with further regional exploration activities prioritised.
Plans for follow-up drilling will also be refined following results from Metal Hawk’s second reverse circulation program at Leinster South, which the explorer told shareholders are expected shortly. The 18-hole, 2,734-metre program was recently completed at the Tysons and Thylacine prospects.
