Minbos Resources (MNB) has taken steps to secure a site for its proposed Cabinda phosphate fertilizer plant in Angola.

The company has penned a land acquisition contract for the site, located within the Subantando commercial precinct.

The site has been zoned as an industrial area and already has power and water running along the main road.

It’s also positioned near a main highway between Cácata and Cabinda City, which Minbos said offered “significant” production advantages when compared to Futila, the previous site under consideration.

These advantages include a reduced distance for ore haulage from Cácata to the plant and for product delivery from the plant to the Port of Cabinda.

The potential new site also offers a reduction in truck traffic throughout the city and lower holding and maintenance costs.

Minbos said it was now undertaking studies to obtain the necessary environmental and construction licences for the area.

Minbos Resources shares were up 4.94 per cent to 8.5 cents at 11:41 am AEDT.
