The approximately $200 million contract is for the installation and commissioning of all structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation activities associated with the construction of the new car dumper 6 (CD6) and its supporting materials handling facilities.

Work will commence immediately and is expected to be completed in 2028.

Monadelphous MD, Zoran Bebic, said the contract award reflects the company’s strong customer value proposition, built on long-term customer relationships and a proven track record of delivery.

“We look forward to working closely with BHP to successfully deliver PDP2 and increase Port capacity.”

The BHP Port Debottlenecking Project 2 (PDP2) is a $1.4 billion infrastructure investment at Nelson Point. It features construction of CD6, new conveyors and supporting systems to sustain a 305 million tonnes per annum production target.

Construction of a sixth rail car dumper kicked off off six months ago.

BHP has described it as one of the biggest port projects to date, unlocking capacity, boosting productivity and improving supply chain resilience.

In late July, Monadelphous announced its non-process infrastructure business Kerman Contracting had landed a contract with Rio Tinto associated with the Brockman Syncline 1 (BS1) project, located in the Pilbara region.

The $165 million contract is for the design and construction of non-process infrastructure facilities including a heavy mine equipment workshop, as well as heavy and light mine equipment washdown, tyre change and fuel storage and refuelling facilities.

Earlier in that month Monadelphous announced the award of $200 million of new construction and maintenance contracts in the resources and energy sectors.

Notably, Monadelphous secured two contracts each with Fortescue and Santos.

MND was steady at $30.06 with a Mkt cap $3.013B prior to markets opening.
