Monger Gold (MMG) is set to start a soil sampling program across its recently acquired Scotty lithium project in Nevada.

Earlier this month, the company completed the acquisition of 80 per cent of the shares in American Consolidated Lithium which owns the lithium project.

Now, Monger plans to undertake an auger soil geochemistry program this week to collect around 550 samples that will be assayed for lithium together with a multi-element suite.

According to MMG’s Chairman Peretz Schapiro, soil sampling was integral in the discovery and delineation of the neighbouring Bonnie Claire lithium deposit – one of the largest lithium resources in the USA, which the Scotty project abuts and surrounds.

Previous soil sampling at Scotty was completed over a 1.5 square kilometre area of the project, and while covering only 2.6 per cent of the total project area, MMG said all the samples returned highly anomalous lithium content with grades between 140 to 300 parts per million.

“Less than three per cent of our project area has been covered with soil sampling previously. And this work returned even better results than those returned from Bonnie Claire,” Mr Schapiro said.

The results from this round of soil sampling will be used to map out drill targets for the company’s maiden drilling campaign which is pitted for the second half of this year.

Monger shares were trading grey at 25 cents at market close.
