Monger Gold (MMG) has received the first drilling results from a new prospect at the Mt Monger North project in the Eastern Goldfields Province of Western Australia.
One reverse circulation (RC) hole was drilled at the newly discovered Hoffmann North prospect to follow up from previous drilling in the surrounding area which included one metre at 6.26 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 39 metres.
The Hoffmann North prospect lies 200 metres northwest of the Hoffmann prospect and it comprises subvertical quartz veins in a felsic volcanic host rock.
A few shallow old workings have been found in the veins but due to the deep weathering of the volcanic host rock, gold has been leached from the veins.
Results from this one hole include seven metres at 1.92g/t gold from 52 metres including one metre at 2.97g/t gold from 54 metres and one metre at 3.27g/t gold from 57 metres.
Follow up drilling is being planned to target the mineralised quartz veins which remain open at depth and along strike.
“The discovery of the Hoffman North prospect continues to bolster our portfolio of
prospective targets across our tenements,” Chairman Peretz Schapiro said.
“The drill results for this new area illustrate the potential for generating new prospects with significant gold mineralisation at Monger North.
“This first RC drill hole into the Hoffmann North Prospect requires more drilling to test the quartz vein gold in fresh rock where depletion of has not occurred.”
Monger Gold shares ended the day 11.4 per cent in the green to trade at 24.5 cents.
