MRG Metals (MRQ) has defined further heavy mineral sands (HMS) mineralisation at the Poiombo target at its Corridor South Project.

Phase 2 reconnaissance aircore drilling at the project in Mozambique expanded both zones of HMS mineralisation at the Poiombo target.

The drilling intersected HMS mineralisation which was visually consistent over larger intervals.

Results included a 30 metres interval at 5 per cent visually estimated Total Heavy Mineral (THM).

MRG Metals Chairman Andrew Van Der Zwan said the drilling at Poiombo got the phase 2 drilling campaign off to a strong start.

“The fact that we are now witnessing consistencies of high-grade HMS mineralisation over thicknesses up to 30m is a fantastic result and certainly adds value to our ever-evolving and developing Corridor Projects,” he said.

Further drilling will be required at smaller intervals to better define the mineralisation in these two zones.

Geological modelling is underway and will assist in the planning of future drilling at Poiombo.

The phase 2 program continues at the Mozambique project and will next focus on the Zulene and Viaria targets.

Shares have been trading 11.1 per cent higher at 1.1 cents at 12:50 pm AEDT.
