New Age Exploration (NAE) has identified five lithium anomalies in two areas within its Central Pilbara gold-lithium project in Western Australia.
The company collected 5300 samples from a soil geochemistry sampling program that assessed the lithium and gold prospectivity across the Brahman, Bullock Well, and Quartz Hill target areas.
Preliminary results uncovered two “robust” lithium anomalies grading up to 843 parts per million (ppm) at the Bullock Well target.
The anomalies range between three and eight kilometres in length and two to four kilometres wide, and both anomalies remain open.
The other three lithium anomalies were identified in the Quartz Hill area and extend for one to five kilometres long and one to three kilometres wide. These anomalies show lithium values ranging from 100 ppm up to 225 ppm lithium and are all supported by coincident elevated multi-element pathfinders.
New Age said the Quartz Hill anomalies were in proximity to the western extension of the Wodgina Greenstone Belt, which hosts the world-class Wodgina lithium mine, and Pilbara Minerals’ (PLS) Mt Francisco lithium deposit.
NAE Executive Director Joshua Wellisch said the results showed the “exceptional potential” of the Central Pilbara project to host significant high-grade, hard rock lithium mineralisation.
“Each of the areas is defined by lithium values in excess of 150 ppm, and all are supported by all of the key multi-elements, including caesium, tantalum, tin and rubidium, which are well-documented associations of lithium-bearing ‘rare-metal’ LCT pegmatite mineral systems,” Mr Wellisch said.
The final sampling results will be announced after they’re reviewed by CSIRO’s Department of Mineral Resources. This is expected in the first quarter of next year.
In the meantime, New Age Exploration has initiated a helicopter-supported reconnaissance program to follow up on these areas in more detail.
