This week on Money and Investing, Mitch Olarenshaw and I talk about setting clear goals for the year ahead, learning from setbacks, and building habits that move you closer to the life you want. The focus is simple. Reflect, decide, and take action with intent.

1. Start With Honest Reflection

Before planning the year ahead, take time to review the past one. Look at what worked, what failed, and what changed you. Reflection helps you see patterns, lessons, and areas for improvement.

2. Redefine Your Goals With Meaning

Goals are not about random numbers or ego-driven targets. They must connect to your values. Ask yourself why you want something and how it improves your life. Goals with purpose create stronger momentum.

3. Accept Setbacks as Part of Growth

Failure does not define you. It is feedback. Instead of quitting, review what happened, adjust your approach, and go again. Progress comes from resilience and awareness.

4. Build Habits, Not Wish Lists

Big outcomes come from small actions done daily. Break long-term goals into quarterly, monthly, weekly, and daily actions. Focus on what you can do today, not on the end result alone.

5. Design Your Life on Purpose

Success in money, relationships, health, and time freedom does not happen by accident. Create structure, routines, and priorities that match the future you want to live.

6. Focus on Gratitude and Perspective

Gratitude shifts focus from what is missing to what already matters. It supports better decision-making, healthier relationships, and a more grounded approach to goal setting.

7. Make Decisions, Not Excuses

Waiting for the “perfect time” keeps people stuck. Progress begins when you decide, commit, and take action, even if the first steps feel small.
