Junior explorer NewPeak Metals (NPM) has reported “encouraging” results from the final bout of a 2021 drilling program at its Finland gold project in the country’s Tampere gold province.

The company has unveiled gold hits from the final 10 diamond drill holes completed at the Satulinmäki prospect in the project area. The drilling program was primarily focused on the main mineralisation zone in the area identified by historical drilling.

According to NewPeak, the results from the 2021 program suggest mineralisation in the area is structurally controlled by a steeply dipping, broadly northeast-striking foliation.

The company said drilling in the area to date had defined a wide mineralised corridor, with zones of higher grades over short to medium intervals.

Some of the best intersections from the latest round of drilling results include a five-metre hit at 1.79 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 20 metres, which itself included a one-metre zone at 4.29 g/t gold. The company also struck a 15-metre intersection at 0.68 g/t gold from 43 metres.

NewPeak said its suite of tenements within the Somero and Forssa areas in Finland, which surround the Satulinmäki prospect, spanned almost 2500 acres and was host to multiple gold targets in various stages of development.

What’s more, rock chip and boulder samples in the area have returned grades upwards of 77 g/t gold.

NewPeak said it needed to conduct more exploration to further develop these targets, with its pipeline of work to potentially provide multiple opportunities to unlock the potential of the Finnish region.

Shares in NewPeak Metals were trading sideways at 0.1 cents at 10:26 am AEST. The company has an $8.8 million market cap.
