Nimy Resources (NIM) has begun reverse circulation drilling at its Mons project in Western Australia.

Drilling contractor Raglan Drilling has started drilling five drill holes at a rare earth carbonatite target as part of the total 8000-metre program that will cover nine prospects.

Nimy said it designed the drilling program to test nickel targets characterised by the presence of conductor plates, strong nickel, sulphur soil responses and favourable underlying magnetic geophysics.

This round of work follows a significant amount of background work, including moving loop electromagnetic (MLEM) surveys, soil sampling and assessments of previous drilling data.

Earlier this week, Nimy revealed soil sampling results it said provided support to the possible source of the conductive plates modelled being nickel sulphides.

Chairman Simon Lill said the company believed the carbonatite rare earth element prospect and the South Lake lithium prospect had “much to reveal” through this campaign.

Nimy said the initial drilling program may be extended following an assessment of the MLEM surveys or on the interpretation of visual drill results.

Shares in Nimy Resources were up 3.57 per cent and trading at 29 cents at 12:57 pm AEDT.
