‘Communication as a Service’ pioneer Norwood Systems (NOR) has launched version 3.5 of World Voicemail.
The new version has spam filtering capabilities, which allows customers to mute or hide inbound telemarketing and nuisance calls.
This was developed by the overwhelming surge in spam and robocalls received by people worldwide.
According to findings by Hiya, the United States alone received 26.3 billion spam calls in 2018 and 54.6 billion in 2019. However, it’s not just the U.S., Spain, U.K., Italy and France all experienced the highest spam call rates in the world.
How does it work?
The new technology detects and marks suspected spam and gives the user to confirm its status. The end-user can then move voicemails to a new in-app spam folder.
Voicemails from that caller will then be silenced and automatically moved to the spam folder.
Norwood is looking to develop go-to-market partnerships for World Voicemail with several prospective telcos and vendors.
CEO Paul Ostergaard said says the new spam filtering and tagging capabilities directly address a major problem in telco voice services.
“With our focus on carefully and continuously improving the platform, we have entrenched World Voicemail’s position as the world’s most advanced telco-grade visual voicemail service platform,” he said.
“We believe the advanced new Spam Filtering and Tagging capabilities, complementing World Voicemail’s already-extensive and class-leading feature set, will see strong interest from telcos who are looking to combat the emerging threat from spam calling and nuisance robocaller,” he added.
Norwood remains in the grey on the market today and is trading for 2.5 cents per share at 10:55 am AEST.
