- NRW Holdings (NWH) secures and extends a string of contracts in Western Australia and Queensland, further bolstering its order book
- The company has received a $60 million contract extension for mining and crushing services at the Mt Webber project in the Pilbara region of WA
- Additionally, NRW’s subsidiary, Golding Contractors, has secured a $52 million contract to build a 19km rail loop for the Olive Downs coking coal project in Queensland
- Finally, the company announces a further $400 million in funding from the State and Federal Governments for the construction of the Bunbury Outer Ring Road project in WA
- NRW shares are up 1.84 per cent and trading at $1.77 at 1:29 pm AEST
NRW Holdings (NWH) has secured and extended a string of contracts in Western Australia and Queensland, further bolstering its order book.
Today’s news comes just one day after NRW flagged almost $900 million worth of new contracts through subsidiaries Golding Contractors and DIAB Engineering.
Mt Webber
NRW today announced a $60 million contract extension for the Gina Rinehart-owned Atlas Iron Mt Webber project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Under the contract, NRW will supply mining and crushing services at Mt Webber until the end of 2024.
“I am delighted to announce that NRW has been retained by Atlas Iron for the
extended term at the Mt Webber iron ore mine,” NRW CEO Jules Pemberton said.
“NRW has a long history as a high quality provider of mining services to our clients in the iron ore industry, and I look forward to our ongoing successful partnership with Atlas Iron.”
Olive Downs
NRW’s subsidiary, Golding Contractors, has secured a rail civil construction contract for the Olive Downs coking coal project in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
The works to be undertaken as part of the contract include a new 19-kilometre rail loop for the new steelmaking coal project, including all earthworks, drainage culverts and the construction of two new rail bridges.
NRW said the contract was valued at around $52 million and was expected to take 14 months to complete.
Olive Downs is being developed by Pembroke Resources with the aim to become a large-scale producer of steelmaking coal. The project is predicted to have an 80-year mine life and could generate as much as $6 billion in royalties for the Queensland Government.
Golding has also been awarded $15 million of bulk earthworks, drainage and roadworks for the project.
Bunbury Outer Ring Road
On top of all this, NRW announced a further $400 million in funding from the State and Federal Governments for the construction of the Bunbury Outer Ring Road project.
This transport project is the biggest the south-west of WA has seen and is a 27km four-lane road linking Forrest Highway to Bussell Highway.
The project is well underway with design significantly advanced, according to NWR.
NRW is a major construction partner (40 per cent) in the project along with Acciona,
MACA, Aurecon and AECOM forming the non-owner participants within the
Alliance.
