Resource and infrastructure contractor NRW Holdings (NWH) has announced the Southwest Connex consortium has won the Alliance contract for the Bunbury Outer Ring Road project.

The Southwest Connex includes Acciona, NRW Contracting, MACA Civil, AECOM and Aurecon. NRW Contracting is a 40 per cent partner in the Alliance.

The construction of the Bunbury Outer Ring Road aims to deliver a more efficient road system for southwest Western Australia.

Under the contract, the Southwest Connex will investigate, design and construct 27 kilometres of a four-lane dual carriage on a rural highway. The road connects the Forrest Highway in Australind to Bussell Highway at Gelorup.

This project is fully funded for $852 million and is expected to be completed in three and a half years.

NRW CEO, Jules Pemberton, is pleased with the contract win for the WA road.

“The recent acquisition of BGC Contracting together with our existing capability in civil construction has both significantly accelerated and enhanced our ability to participate as a large construction partner in public works projects,” he said.

“We look forward to working closely with our Alliance partners and Main Roads through to successful contract completion in 2024,” he added.

On the market this afternoon, NRW is down 2.78 per cent and is trading for $2.10 per share at 12:55 pm AEDT.
