Oceana Lithium (OCN) has reported high-grade lithium mineralisation close to the surface at the Bom Jesus de Baixo pegmatite within the Solonópole project in Brazil.

The company has identified the largest lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatite zone in the area to date, with samples taken from the Mina Bom Jesus de Baixo pegmatite returning high-grade assays of up to 3.61 per cent lithium

Oceana Chairman Gino Vitale said such findings provided further confidence in the pegmatite and the Solonópole project as a whole.

“Multiple lithium-bearing minerals and potential zonation present in our ground indicate substantial lithium enrichment in this well-recognized LCT pegmatite district,” Mr Vitale said.

“A maiden drilling program is planned to determine the actual dimensions, strike and dip of the Bom Jesus de Baixo pegmatite, which is difficult to map from the surface due to limited outcropping exposures.”

A 3000-metre reverse circulation drilling program will commence in March with an initial focus on the Bom Jesus de Baixo pegmatite, but further exploration will depend on land-owner agreements.

Further details will be announced once a detailed plan has been completed and the drilling contract signed.

Oceana shares closed 6.94 per cent higher at 38.5 cents on Wednesday afternoon.
