Australian and South American-focused explorer PepinNini Minerals (PNN) is moving towards completion of its lithium brine blending study in Chile.

The study began in May and is using 2000 litres of brine collected from a mix of material from the company’s leases on the Rincon and Incahuasi salt flats in Argentina.

So far, PepinNini has said the results demonstrate high lithium-ion concentrates during the evaporation of blended brines. They also suggest PPN’s brine blending process is highly effective.

The company claims the brine mix concentrate reached 4.11 per cent lithium and it expects to reach its target level of five per cent in mid-December.

By this time, PepinNini reportedly anticipates the completed results will demonstrate its method of brine blending maximises lithium ion content.

Once the study concludes, the company plans to drill four boreholes and a pumping well in Incahuasi. Brine will then be used from resource drilling to scale up testing to obtain a lithium carbonate battery grade sample.

PepinNini also plans to conduct a pre-feasibility study for both its Rincon and Incahusi sites, including the design of a processing plant.

PepinNini shares were trading 4.27 per cent higher at 61 cents at 1:07 pm AEDT.
