Perpetual Resources (PEC) has provided an update on its metallurgical program at the Beharra Project as part of its recently announced pre-feasibility study (PFS).
The metallurgical program is aimed at optimising the beneficiation process and provide detailed specifications for the quality of the silica sand product from the Beharra Project in Western Australia.
On August 17, Perpetual announced it had selected IHC Robbins (IHCR) to undertake the detailed metallurgical test work. IHCR is a consultancy and lab operator which specialises in mineral sands.
Before the program could begin, the company had to transport 2000 kilograms of samples from Perth to IHCR’s laboratory in Queensland.
Once IHCR received the samples, it began conducting screening, particle size distribution (PSD) analysis, spiral testing and selection, attritioning residence time and intensity evaluation, and magnetic intensity testing.
“The commencement of the detailed metallurgical program for Beharra is a key milestone for Perpetual, with detailed metallurgical testing seen as one of the most important inputs into our rapidly advancing PFS,” Managing Director Robert Benussi said.
Perpetual considers the production of end-product samples to be a significant milestone. It is continuing to receive interest from potential customers and silica sand trading agents and has already received requests to supply product samples.
The end products will be received at the end of the metallurgical program, which is expected to take up to 12 weeks.
“We anticipate strong results from this round of testing and with continued interest from Asian-based silica sand end-users and traders, we look forward to the receipt from IHCR of large quantities of the end product for client testing and the commencement of formal sales and marketing discussions,” Robert stated.
The company expects to report initial results from stage one testing by the end of this month.
Perpetual’s shares are trading 14.3 per cent higher for 4.8 cents at 11:34 am AEST.
