- Queensland also recorded four new cases of the virus, while Victoria recorded zero COVID-19 cases
Australians aged over 40 can now receive their Pfizer vaccine from a GP, as the Government’s vaccination rollout plan is expanded.
Around 500 GP clinics were allowed to begin administering the jabs on Monday, for those aged between 40 and 59.
While an additional 800 GPs were expected to be added as part of the next phase of rollout in August.
The federal government was expecting more doses of the Pfizer jag to begin arriving in the coming months.
However, no concrete date has been set for when Australians aged under 40 will be allowed to receive their recommended Pfizer jabs.
The widening of the vaccine rollout comes as Sydney continues to record double-digit COVID-19 cases, with 35 new cases identified on Monday.
That’s the second highest number of daily cases since the Bondi outbreak began and comes four days out from the planned end of Greater Sydney’s lockdown.
Asked about when lockdown restrictions would begin to lift, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said it was too early to say.
“I’m making no comment until I’ve looked at all the data,” Ms Berejiklian said on Monday.
“Every day brings a new set of data and a new set of challenges and what we think in the morning can change in the afternoon.”
In Queensland, four new cases of COVID-19 were recorded on Monday while Victoria recorded no new cases of the virus.
