Exploration company, Poseidon Nickel has uncovered high-grades of sulphide nickel during a drilling campaign at its Silver Swan mine. The Silver Swan mine makes up part of the company’s Black Swan Project located northeast of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

An initial assessment of the results from the first three holes at Silver Swan show 5.9 meters @ 9.92 per cent nickel, 7.48 metres @ 10.89 per cent nickel and 13 metres @ 5.64 per cent nickel. These results are expected to assist with geological modelling as identifying deposits in the Black Swan project continues.

The Silver Swan drilling program will cover 3000 metres and is expected to be completed in the next five weeks. Poseidon said results will be made available shortly after.

“The two-pronged approach we have adopted has been designed to test the potential and extension of ore sources at both Black Swan and Silver Swan,” Managing Director, Rob Dennis said.

“Combined, these drilling programs have yielded some extremely positive outcomes by virtue of grade width and scale and have prompted us to reassess and accelerate our future drilling programs,” he said.

Having historically shown some of the highest-grade nickel sulphide assays globally, the drilling program at the Silver Swan is set to increase the development of the project. With the intent to expand the company’s resource potential within the Black Swan Project.

Poseidon acquired the Black Swan Project from Norilsk Nickel Australia in 2014.
