Prominence Energy has used modern technology to define hydrogen and helium potential in South Australia.

Prominence Energy (ASX: PRM) has defined significant maiden gross un-risked prospective resources of natural hydrogen, helium and petroleum gas within its Northern Hinge project in South Australia.

New studies have identified prospective resources of four Trillion standard cubic feet (Tscf) of natural hydrogen, 102 Billion standard cubic feet (Bscf) of helium and 320 Bscf of petroleum gas across 28 identified leads at Northern Hinge.

The company is now targeting a mid-2027 exploration drilling campaign, with a focus on resource assessment supporting target selection, drilling preparation and prospective farm-out discussions.

CEO, Dr Krista Davies, said the company-prepared assessment has been independently audited by specialists RISC Advisory and provides a technical foundation for target ranking, potential partnering and exploration drilling.

“We are excited by the scale of Northern Hinge with gross un-risked 2U estimates of four Tscf natural hydrogen and 102 Bscf helium,” Dr Davies said.

“These are substantial exploration opportunities, and helium’s ability to command prices many times those of conventional natural gas adds to the potential significance of the portfolio.

“Combining sizeable targets with relatively low-cost drilling gives Prominence significant exposure to exploration success.

“Seabrook, our largest identified lead, is a priority for further assessment as we refine target selection, advance drilling engineering and progress prospective partnering discussions.”

The Seabrook lead is interpreted as a having vertical closure of 50 to 100 metres and areal closure of 50 to 290 sq. km.

Possible gas chimneys are interpreted at the fault terminus and along trend from regional gas seeps. The audited un-risked prospective resources for the Seabrook lead are 761 Bscf hydrogen, 21.7 Bscf helium and 363 Bscf methane.

PRM has assessed the geological chance of success across the Northern Hinge leads at six to 18%, using source, reservoir, trap and seal factors.

The company’s 2027 drilling program is intended to test these geological assumptions directly.

PRM is steady at 0.1¢ with a Mkt cap of $2.675M.
