- The Sonic Detection and Ranging (Sodar) weather monitoring station, provided by Fulcrum3D, will collect data required to support feasibility studies
- Province says the system is critical in assessing the wind and solar resource potential of the project area
- The data collected will be used to optimise proposed wind turbines and solar network before finalising the project’s scope and size
- The company plans to deploy the station in the next four weeks
- PRL shares are up 8.14 per cent and trading at 9.3 cents per share
Province Resources (PRL) has secured new wind and solar monitoring equipment to be set up at its HyEnergy Zero Carbon Hydrogen Project in Western Australia’s Gascoyne region.
The Sonic Detection and Ranging (Sodar) weather monitoring station, provided by Australian owned technology company, Fulcrum3D, collects preliminary wind and solar data every 10 minutes to assess the resource potential of the area. The system measures wind speeds from 50 metres to 200 metres, providing wind speed and direction data up to and above wind turbine hub height.
Province says the data is required to support feasibility studies and will be used to optimise proposed wind turbines and solar array network, prior to finalising the project’s scope and size. The company plans to deploy the station in the next four weeks.
The HyEnergy project adjoins the coastal WA town, Carnarvon, and covers a flat-lying arid landscape with low-intensity pastoral land use. The area has a high solar resource, averaging 211 sunny days per year as well as high wind speeds, which Province says makes it an attractive spot for renewable energy.
”It is great to be able to hit the ground running on the exciting HyEnergy green hydrogen project. I look forward to progressing the feasibility studies as quickly as possible, whilst also planning the initial fieldwork programs to assess the salt, potash and mineral sands target areas within the greater Gascoyne Project,” commented Province’s managing director, David Frances.
PRL shares are in the green, up 8.14 per cent and trading at 9.3 cents per share at 10:18 am AEDT.
