Pure Hydrogen (PH2) has announced the launch of Australia’s first hydrogen-powered prime mover at the Brisbane Truck Show on May 18, 2023.

The ‘Taurus’ is an Australian-designed, 220-kilowatt, six-by-four truck with a hydrogen refuelling point and state-of-the-art features including a low-voltage power storage system and “luxurious” cabin interiors.

Pure Hydrogen said the launch at the Brisbane Truck Show would be the start of trials with global food and beverage conglomerate PepsiCo under a term sheet inked back in September 2022.

The company said the launch was the next step in its go-to-market commercialisation strategy.

PH2’s appearance at the Brisbane Truck Show will include a live demonstration of the use-case for hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles such as prime movers, garbage trucks and cement mixers to relevant participants.

“The live demonstration marks the culmination of a successful six-month co-development period, with no delays to the stated production timeline,” PH2 Managing Director Scott Brown commented.

The company confirmed representatives would be at the event in Brisbane for sales discussions with potential customers.

Pure Hydrogen holds exclusive rights to the truck design in Australia, with the potential for multi-vehicle orders following the completion of the trial period.

The company is also developing the country’s first hydro-powered garbage truck, which will be trialled by JJ Waste and Recycling, on track to be delivered by the end of the quarter.

Shares in PH2 were up 9.38 per cent and trading at 17.5 cents at midday AEST.
