Red Dirt Metals (RDT) has intersected up to 214.55 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from its Mt Ida lithium-gold project in Western Australia.

Results come from the maiden diamond hole drilled to test the Baldock gold zone as well as the down-dip extensions of the Meteor and Baldock mineralisation.

Best results come from hole IDRC030 which intersected 5.61 metres at 52.69g/t gold and 1.07 per cent copper including 1.21 metres at 214.55g/t gold and 2.26 per cent copper from 305.16 metres.

Results from this hole helped confirm historical results and will help in the preparation of a maiden JORC 2012 mineral resource estimate.

Holes IDRCD106 and IDRD002 intersected more than 20g/t gold, highlighting the potential for two new high-grade shoots.

“Excellent” lithium intervals and the thickest visual pegmatite interval to date was encountered at the Timoni and Sister Sam pegmatites.

Results include 13.34 metres at 1.51 per cent lithium oxide from 312.54 metres and 12.16 metres at 1.25 per cent lithium oxide from 480 metres.

Both Timoni and Sister Sam remain open at depth with a further aircore rig expected to arrive over the coming weeks to speed up regional lithium exploration opportunities.

“Mt Ida consistently keeps on producing some astounding intervals and the potential for a material increase in the gold and copper endowment for the project is growing with every new intercept,” Managing Director Matthew Boyes commented.

“DRD030 was drilled primarily to confirm the historic assays reported in the central Baldock area. Another four holes are planned into this central historic resource area to assist with bringing the resource into a JORC 2012 compliant status and a further 15,000 metres of deeper drilling is also planned to test the obvious down plunge potential at the central Ida area.”

Red Dirt was up 8.22 per cent with shares trading at 39.5 cents at market close.
