Red Dirt Metals (RDT) has received results from the first three diamond holes at its Mt Ida lithium-gold project in Western Australia.

Best results come from the Sister Sam Pegmatite which returned 13.49 metres at 1.69 per cent lithium oxide from 251 metres including 6.85 metres at 2.21 per cent lithium oxide from 257.74 metres.

Sister Sam now has a down-dip plunge of more than 600 metres while the Timoni Pegmatite has a plunge of extent of nearly 500 metres.

The Timoni Pegmatite intersected six metres at 1.81 per cent lithium oxide from 121 metres and intersected five metres at 1.3 per cent lithium oxide from 70 metres.

Drilling also intersected gold with results of four metres at 12.52g/t gold from 62 metres and four metres at 3.87g/t gold from 62 metres encountered.

These results highlight the grade and thickness of the Central Mt Ida pegmatites and the potential for short-term growth and an accelerated pathway to production.

“These first diamond results have confirmed that the Sister Sam pegmatite grades and widths are continuing some 600 metres down plunge from the surface expression of the pegmatite, and show no signs of grade dropping off or significant variations in mineralogy across the intrusive,” Managing Director Matthew Boyes said.

“The presence of large widths of greater than two per cent lithium oxide contained within all the assayed holes demonstrates the high grades present within these pegmatites and the potential to add a significant amount of lithium metal over a small vertical distance.”

A third rig has arrived on site and a further two are expected to arrive by the end of the month. Red Dirt is advancing the resource drilling program and regional exploration programs as quickly as possible.

Shares in Red Dirt were up 11.1 per cent and were trading at 45 cents at 12:24 pm AEST.
