Red Mountain Mining’s (ASX:RMX) U.S. field team has visually confirmed outcropping garnet skarn at the Mammoth and Greenstone prospects at Pioneer in Montana, and highlighted additional subsurface geological potential across the claim blocks using newly completed 3D magnetic modelling.

During late May, Red Mountain’s field crew ran a three-day reconnaissance visit to Mammoth and Greenstone as part of its larger due diligence. The State-side team collected 24 rock chip samples made up of skarn and altered material from outcrop exposures, historical test pits, trench walls, and float.
The modelling revealed a series of subsurface magnetic bodies lying at drillable depths beneath the Mammoth and Greenstone claims, Red Mountain told shareholders today. These features are interpreted to represent shallow extensions of the granodiorite source beneath overlying quartzite units.
At Greenstone, a direct spatial relationship was observed between the subsurface magnetic high and the mapped garnet skarn. Modelling at the third claim area, Lost Creek, also indicated a steeply dipping granodiorite margin.
The samples have been submitted for multielement analysis to measure tungsten content and provide a first-pass indication of economic significance.
Early findings “indicate that Red Mountain’s claims also have clear geological potential for limestone-hosted Tungsten-bearing garnet skarn mineralisation at shallow depths beneath outcropping quartzite,” the company wrote.
Analytical results from this initial sampling round should come in before the end of the month, HotCopper understands. Red Mountain has also flagged that there were no attempts made to visually identify scheelite or estimate tungsten content during collection yet, as the expected grades are below 1%.
Red Mountain is expecting to be able to “move rapidly” towards drill testing the downdip extensions of skarn mineralisation at one or more prospects once results come in – “subject to positive analytical results,” of course.
Heading into Tuesday, RMX is selling at 1.6cps.
