Rex Express Holdings (REX) subsidiary Pel-Air has added two new aircrafts to its agreement with New South Wales Ambulance (NSWA).
Last year, the company signed a contract to provide fixed-wing patient transport services to NSW Ambulance.
The 10-year contract will begin in January 2022 and was to supply five King Air 350 aircrafts.
Today, Rex announced that two Pilatus PC 24 jets will be part of the contract. The jets will replace two of the five King Air 350 aircrafts.
The planes will be used to transport patients and medical personnel throughout NSW regional communities.
Notably, the deal is similar to Pel-Air’s 2009 contract with Ambulance Victoria, which has since been extended to 2023.
Last month, Rex raised $150 million to fund its domestic operations as it plans to take on industry giants Qantas and Virgin.
Initially, Rex plans to fly between Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
Its domestic operations will be priced affordably and will include baggage allowance, meals on board and pre-assigned seating.
