Rimfire Pacific Mining (RIM) has begun a drilling program at the Transit gold prospect within the Fifield project in central New South Wales.

The reverse circulation (RC) drilling program is aimed at testing down-dip and strike extensions to known gold mineralisation at the Fifield project.

Earlier this year, drill hole Fi2080 returned 86 metres at 0.63 grams of gold per tonne (g/t) from a 21-metre depth including nine metres at 1.72g/t gold from 21 metres.

Managing Director and CEO Craig Riley was pleased to get drilling underway.

“Since obtaining gold intercepts from near-surface in previous RC and diamond drilling at Transit the company has been keen to undertake further drilling to test for down-dip and along strike mineralisation,” he said.

The five-hole program will cover 750 metres and is expected to be completed by mid-January 2022. Assays are expected in late February.

“We are looking forward to receiving these results as well as undertaking an aircore program at Transit in early 2022 to test the broader area of anomalous soil geochemistry.”

Company shares ended the day trading flat at 0.8 cents.
