Explorer Rimfire Pacific Mining’s (RIM) drill programs are well underway to test for multiple copper, gold, cobalt and platinum targets at its Fifield Project within the Lachlan Fold Belt of central New South Wales.

The reverse circulation (RC) large-diameter auger and aircore drill programs total 8,700 metres and are fully funded by the company’s exploration partner Golden Plains Resources.

Since drilling commenced late in December, Rimfire has drilled 12 large diameter auger holes at the Platina Lead gold and platinum prospect for 191 metres, six RC holes for 984 metres and 77 aircore holes for 2,610 metres at the Transit gold prospect, and 16 aircore holes for 484 metres at the Melrose cobalt target.

RIM has also drilled 60 aircore holes for 2,400 metres at the Currajong cobalt prospect with a further aircore program of approximately 100 holes for 2,000 metres planned for the Kara Kara copper and gold porphyry target before the program concludes.

Drill samples are continually being dispatched for analysis and it is expected the company will progressively receive assay results from late March through to the end of June.

It says the geological and analytical data generated from the program will enable it to design follow-up drill programs for implementation during the second half of the year.

Additionally, an initial one-tonne bulk sample of material from the Platina Lead large diameter auger drilling has been dispatched for processing to determine the nature and potential abundance of alluvial gold and platinum group minerals within the sample.

Pending the outcome of the initial test work, further bulk samples from the Platina Lead will be submitted for processing next month.

Rimfire shares were trading up 16.7 per cent at 0.7 cents.
