Sabre Resources (SBR) has begun an aircore (AC) drilling program at the Bonanza Gold Project in Western Australia.

Bonanza lies in the highly prospective Youanmi Gold Mining District, directly east of Ramelius Resources’ (RMS) Penny West Gold Mine.

At least 50 holes, for 1500 metres, will be drilled to test high priority structural and lithological targets identified in August.

Any anomalous gold intersections identified will be followed up with deeper reverse circulation (RC) drilling.

However, this program may be extended to test other structural and lithological targets.

The priority target lies in the northeast corner of exploration licence E57/1125, which is 800 metres from Penny West.

A review of the August work identified west-northwest trending structures that could be extensions of the Youanmi Fault Zone that hosts the Penny West Mine.

After analysing the data, Sabre identified several northeast-trending fault lines and three drill targets.

This AC drilling will also provide information on the weathering profile of the project.

If the weathering is shallow and there is no appearance of transported materials, then an auger soil sampling program will also be completed.

Sabre is up 11.1 per cent with shares trading for 1 cent each at 12:14 pm AEDT.
