Sabre Resources (SBR) has highlighted a major conductor at its 70 per cent-owned Sherlock Bay nickel-copper-cobalt project in WA’s Pilbara region.
The company modelled previous electromagnetic (EM) survey data which led to confirming a 1.4-kilometre-long conductor that extends west and at depth below the currently drilled Sherlock Bay nickel sulphide resource.
Importantly, the newly-identified conductor is open to the west and down-dip in the direction of increasing grade.
Specialist geophysical group Newexco concluded that the mineralisation has rolled over from steeply north-dipping to possibly south-dipping further west.
This could reportedly indicate the mineralisation will intersect with the base of the Sherlock Intrusive at a shallower point than previously thought, being immediately down-plunge of the Discovery Resource.
According to Sabre, the EM conductor supports its new target model for the Sherlock Bay deposits under which massive sulphides are targeted where the mineralised horizon projects to intersect the footwall of the Sherlock Intrusive, potentially representing the “neck” or “throat” of the intrusive.
A follow-up diamond drilling program is planned to test the targeted intersection point, down plunge of both the Discovery and Symonds resources.
The overall objective of the drilling program is to increase the grade of the resource and further enhance the economic viability of the Sherlock Bay nickel project.
The four-hole drilling program is expected to commence in the June quarter.
Sabre shares were trading steady at 0.8 cents at 12:35 pm AEST.
