Salt Lake Potash (SO4) has begun process plant commissioning at its Lake Way Project, near Wiluna in Western Australia.
The first harvest salts have been successfully fed into the feed hopper and conveyed to the surge bin. They have also been run through the lump breaker and transferred into the attritioning feed tank at the front-end of the process plant.
This represents the first time that potassium-rich harvest salts, precipitated from lake aquifer brine, have been fed into a sulphate of potash plant in Australia.
The gas supply lines and delivery station for the project’s 10-megawatt power station have been fully commissioned. Over the course of the next few weeks, the project’s utilities, conversion circuit, flotation circuits, crystallisers, and dryer will all be commissioned.
Consultants from Wood Group, which designed the plant, will assist in the commissioning process. They will be accompanied by vendors such as Veolia and Broadbent.
Commissioning activities at Lake Way will continue over the coming weeks, with power-on scheduled for late April. This will support final commissioning activities and commencement of production at the project.
First production and salt of potash sales from the project are on track for the June quarter.
Salt Lake Potash’s CEO, Tony Swiericzuk, commented on the start of commissioning at the company’s Lake Way Project.
“Commencing commissioning of Australia’s first sulphate of potash processing plant is a major milestone for SO4, and testament to the hard work of our owners’ team and GR Engineering Services,” he said.
“It is exciting to see the vision that was first conceived in late 2018 come to fruition less than two and a half years later. First SOP sales and revenue are now well within sight,” he added.
Salt Lake Potash is up 2.02 per cent, trading at 50 cents per share at 2:30pm AEDT.
