Si6 Metals (SI6) today unveiled several intrusive gold targets found through a recent bout of aircore drilling completed at its Monument gold project in WA’s Eastern Goldfields.

The junior gold explorer kicked off the 126-hole, 4200-metre program in late-2021, with the drilling work designed to test 26 high-level targets in the Monument project area.

Today, SI6 said assay 18 of these 26 targets were identified as potentially fertile intrusives prospective for bulk tonnage gold mineralisation.

SI6 Executive Chair Patrick Holywell said the company was “highly encouraged” by the presence of gold intrusives in the area.

“These intrusives targets are highly prospective for gold in a Western Australian region which is well known for giant, intrusive-related gold discoveries,” Mr Holywell said.

“The results from this drilling also give the company confidence as we approach the upcoming phase two AC drilling program, which is scheduled to begin at the end of April.”

SI6 pointed to one specific intrusive, dubbed the Korong intrusive, as belonging to the “sanukitoid suite of evolved intrusive rocks”.

For the layman, this simply means the geology in the area is comparable in style to the gold-bearing intrusions at De Grey Mining’s (DEG) Hemi discovery near Port Hedland in WA.

Further, SI6 said while the drilling was not specifically designed to target gold mineralisation, the company still struck several anomalous gold hits including a four-metre intersection at 1.38 grams of gold per tonne (g/t gold) from surface and a four-metre hit at 0.44 g/t gold from 36 metres.

The areas identified as fertile intrusives will now be tested in the next round of aircore drilling at the project, which SI6 said was slated to begin around the end of April.

Shares in SI6 Metals were down 10 per cent to 0.9 cents each at 11:49 am AEDT. The company has a $13 million market cap.
