Si6 Metals (SI6) has kicked off a new drilling program at its Monument gold project in Western Australia.

The new phase of drilling consists of 140 holes for around 5000 metres across five target areas. This includes the Korong and Aermotor felsic intrusive targets, which previously returned assays including four metres at 1.38 grams of gold per tonne (g/t) and four metres at 0.19g/t gold.

Drilling at Korong is testing the western intrusive contact where an interpreted, regional fault structure traverses the contact. Meanwhile, drilling at Aermotor will target the lithological boundary between black shale sediments and mafic volcanics where mineralised quartz veining was previously intersected.

Several high priority structural targets will also be given attention, many of which have not seen any prior surface exploration.

The drilling program marks the company’s second round of aircore drilling at the project, following on from an initial phase of work undertaken in late 2021.

The initial program tested 26 out of around 60 intrusive targets, with 18 of these confirmed as fractionated, felsic intrusives, considered prospective for bulk tonnage gold mineralisation.

The new phase of drilling is expected to be completed later this month.

SI6 Metals last traded at 0.9 cents on May 10.
