Sipa Resources (SRI) has begun diamond drilling at the Barbwire Terrace project in the Fitzroy Trough in Western Australia.

Up to four holes will be drilled to test base metal targets along the southwest margin of the Fitzroy Trough.

Sipa will be targeting the Devonian age equivalents of the Pillara Formation which hosts the base metal deposits of the Lennard Shelf, and the Ordovician age equivalents of the Nita Formation which hosts the Admiral Bay base metal deposit.

Prior to the drill program, a comprehensive review was undertaken of the geological, geophysical and seismic data, and detailed gravity surveys were completed to finalise the hole locations.

Drilling is being supported by the Western Australian Government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme and will be undertaken in a joint venture with Buru Energy (BRU).

“It is great to get the drilling underway at Barbwire, where we are testing some big base-metal targets,” Managing Director Pip Darvall said.

“While a mineralised intercept is obviously first prize, success will also include the intersection of the prospective stratigraphy in a structurally favourable location, which will help us vector into a deposit.”

Sipa has ended the day in the grey with shares trading at 4 cents.
