Junior explorer Siren Gold (SNG) has struck “exceptional” high-grade gold and stibnite mineralisation at the Auld Creek prospect within its Reefton gold project in New Zealand.

The company reported new intersections from trenches and historical drill holes in the Fraternal zone at Auld Creek, with results including two metres at 14 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 13 per cent antimony and 8.8 metres at 2.8 g/t gold and 0.24 per cent antimony in the Fraternal shoot.

Antimony, of which stibnite is a sulphide metalloid mineral, is listed as a critical mineral in several countries including Australia, the US and Japan for its use in semiconductors, defence technology and renewable energy.

Siren struck a 1.7-metre intersection at 3.6 g/t gold and 0.1 per cent antimony in the Fraternal North shoot at Auld Creek and a six-metre intersection at 2.5 g/t gold and 1.6 per cent antimony in the Bonanza shoot, among other results.

While the mineralisation at Auld Creek lies between the historical Crushington and Globe Progress mines, Siren said there was no record of gold production from the prospect.

As part of its exploration work in the area, Siren has completed infill soil sampling at Auld Creek, excavating several trenches across the Fraternal and Bonanza mineralised shoots.

Some of today’s results come from two of the four trenches excavated across the Fraternal shoot, with Siren having previously reported results from the other two shoots in early October.

The company said this shoot had now been intersected by four trenches and four drill holes and remained open to the south and down-plunge.

Looking ahead, Siren plans to continue its field exploration work in the area throughout the rest of the year, with diamond drilling slated for the first quarter of 2023, subject to New Zealand Department of Conservation access.

In the meantime, the company will continue with its soil sampling and trenching work in the Fraternal and Bonanza areas at Auld Creek.

Shares in Siren Gold were up 9.38 per cent to trade at 17.5 cents at 1:47 pm AEDT.
