Siren Gold (SNG) has reported “broad mineralisation” from the first drill hole at its Auld Creek prospect in New Zealand.

The company said the hole struck both the Fraternal and Bonanza shoots, based on core logging and spot portable x-ray fluorescence (pXRF) analysis.

Siren Gold Executive Chairman Brian Rodan said it was exciting to hit the mineralisation the company had been searching for.

“We are excited that our first drill hole at Auld Creek hit the type of mineralisation we were targeting, with broad zones of mineralisation evident,” Mr Rodan said.

“We have sent the core to the lab for priority testing and look forward to reporting assay results over the coming weeks.”

The company said the first drill hole intersected a 20-metre thick Fraternal mineralised zone, containing stibnite, and arsenopyrite mineralisation containing numerous sheeted stibnite veins in the footwall.

Siren said the thickness and consistency of the Fraternal mineralisation were encouraging and consistent with its recent trench intersections.

Additionally, the top of the Bonanza shoot was also hit, with a 3.7-metre thick brecciated zone containing disseminated arsenopyrite.

Siren’s drilling work in the area is continuing, with initial assays anticipated for May.

Shares in SNG were up 14.29 per cent to 12 cents at midday AEST.
