Six Sigma Metals (SI6) has inked its plans to begin a drilling program at its Maibele North Project within the next week.

The Maibele North Project is located in Botswana, southern Africa and is prospective for nickel sulphide mineralisation.

The mineralisation at the project is related to ultramafic intrusions within mobile belt rocks and has a similar style to other ultramafic intrusion-related mobile belt nickel discoveries such as IGO’s (IGO) Nova Bollinger, Chalice Gold Mines’ (CHN) Julimar and the Thompson Belt located in Canada.

These nickel deposits typically contain associated metals such as nickel, copper, cobalt and platinum group elements (PGEs) — all of which are present at Maibele North.

Specifically, the program will complete a 550-metre deep diamond drill hole to test along strike to the east of the nickel sulphide intersection from a previously drilled hole.

Six Sigma Metals believes a successful intersection in the hole associated with the strong electromagnetic conductor could lead to further deep holes. This could then uncover a potential new nickel discovery at the Maibele North Project.

In addition to the upcoming drilling program, the company is conducting ground geophysical surveys at the Airstrip and Dibete copper-silver prospects to generate targets for reverse circulation (RC) drilling.

The survey is testing for deep, massive to semi-massive sulphide bodies that may feed near-surface high-grade mineralisation.

Once results have been finalised, the RC rig will be mobilised to test for any encouraging targets.

Company shares are up a healthy 22.2 per cent and are trading at 1.1 cents in early morning trade.
