SKY Network Television (SKT) has signed a deal to become the exclusive TV rights holder of the Premier League in New Zealand for the next six years with the upcoming 2022/23 season.
The network’s other properties include the Australian A-Leagues, a wide range of top-tier European club football, the 2022 FIFA World Cup this November in Qatar.
SKY will also broadcast the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
The network hopes the deal will attract more viewers and ensure a slate of live content year-round.
“Securing the content that matters most to our customers is a key part of our strategy. Our customers know that there is always great sport to watch on Sky, every month of the year, with the best of New Zealand and global competition,” said Sky’s Chief Executive Sophie Moloney.
The TV rights had previously been held by Spark New Zealand Limited subsidiary, Spark Sport.
