Southern Hemisphere Mining (SUH) has intersected copper mineralisation in a 24-hole reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at its Llahuin project in Chile.

The company said initial assay results included 90 metres grading 0.62 per cent copper equivalent from surface at the project’s Central Porphyry deposit and 69 metres at 0.47 per cent copper equivalent from surface at the Cerro De Oro deposit.

Drilling was aimed at testing near-surface higher-grade zones in and around existing resources at the Central Porphyry and Cerro De Oro deposits and for new targets for large porphyry deposits.

Southern Hemisphere also drilled a maiden RC hole at the Southern Porphyry copper-gold prospect that was designed to test historical rock chip data and newly acquired drone magnetic survey data.

The first RC drill hole intersected about 177 metres of trace visible chalcopyrite.

The company said it was planning follow-up drilling programs at Central Porphyry, Cerro De Oro and Southern Porphyry.

A small orientated round of diamond drilling designed to verify structures and densities at the Central Porphyry and Cerro De Oro deposits was next cab off the rank, data from which would guide further near-surface drilling, Southern Hemisphere said.

SUH shares were steady at 3.4 cents at 1:27 pm AEDT.
