Technology company Spacetalk (SPA) has begun selling its kids smartphone watches through Woolworths Mobile.

Woolworths Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) and the flagship telecommunications offering of the Woolworths Group (WOW).

Under the partnership, it has developed a device and prepaid plan bundle offer exclusively for Spacetalk customers.

When bundling it with a $20 or above Woolworths Mobile prepaid plan, customers can receive five per cent off the recommended retail price of the device.

Customers will also be eligible for 10 per cent off their grocery shop once a month if they are a Woolworths Mobile and Everyday Rewards customer.

To drive growth, Spacetalk will feature in Woolworths digital catalogues and be part of targeted electronic marketing and SMS campaigns.

“At Woolworths Mobile we are always looking at ways to bring value to our customers, and smartphone watches are the fastest-growing category of wearables,” Head of Woolworths Mobile James McMurrough said.

“We are very excited to enter a partnership with Spacetalk, enhancing the value proposition for Woolworths Mobile customers.”

Spacetalk’s smartwatches allow parents to communicate with their children through 3G text messages and mobile calls without allowing access to the internet.

This means that popular social media apps such as Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram cannot be accessed or used on the device.

Parents are able to block calls and messages from unknown numbers and will be notified if any try to call.

Furthermore, it boasts the likes of GPS tracking that can send timed updates on the wearers’ location.

“Its flagship telco offering – Woolworths Mobile – is growing rapidly in a competitive market, benefitting from the pedigree of trust and large, loyal customer base of the Group,” Spacetalk CEO Mark Fortunatow said.

“We are delighted about commencing sales through Woolworths Mobile and believe that its commitment to growing the category with Woolworths Group customers will enable us to build a very successful partnership together.”

Spacetalk ended Thursday up 9.68 per cent trading at 17 cents each.
