Spacetalk (SPA) is set to launch its JumpySIM mobile virtual network operator project in Australia.

The technologies developer entered agreements to provide a JumpySIM virtual mobile network service in Australia, via part of Telstra’s 4G and 3G mobile network.

Once JumpySIM becomes available to the public, Spacetalk’s wearables sold through Australian e-commerce and retail channels – including its Kids, Adventurer and Life options – will include a JumpySIM mobile networked SIM.

JumpySIM service subscriptions in Australia will now come bundled with a Spacetalk app subscription for both the Kids and Adventurer wearables. However, users of other mobile services will still need to purchase a Spacetalk app subscription separately.

The launch of JumpySIM in Australia is expected to generate new and additional recurring revenues, along with an additional gross margin of up to $3 per user per month. It is also anticipated that JumpySIM will reduce churn in recurring app fee subscriptions.

The company said it believes the bundling of the app fee with the JumpySIM subscription fee will significantly enhance the Spacetalk user experience.

“The launch of JumpySIM in Australia is a continuation of our strategy to both enhance our profit margins, grow recurring revenues, and improve our customers’ experience,” Spacetalk CEO Mark Fortunatow said.

“It is also the logical next step of our evolution.”

Spacetalk plans to launch the new offering in Australia during the first quarter of 2023 ahead of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales period.

The news follows the launch of JumpySIM in the US, which is expected to result in a gross margin of up to $5 per month per user.

JumpySIM operates on the AT&T network and provides customers with a wearables mobile service tailored for kids.

Spacetalk shares were up 7.14 per cent, trading at 6 cent at 1:20 pm AEST.
