SRG Global (SRG) has won a $95 million civil maintenance term contract with aluminium company Alcoa.

Under the contract, SRG will provide services including minor civil works, bauxite residue management and bulk materials handling to Alcoa’s Kwinana Alumina Refinery in Western Australia.

However, there’s potential for SRG to provide civil services work to Alcoa’s other mining and refining sites in WA, including ports.

SRG Global Managing Director David Macgeorge said today’s contract demonstrated the value of the company’s WBHO Infrastructure purchase in March.

“The contract continues a 35-year history on this site and we look forward to continuing to deliver value-engineered services to Alcoa,” Mr Macgeorge said.

“The contract will support over 100 local jobs and extends our ongoing commitment to the development and employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation throughout the duration of the contract.”

The Kwinana Alumina Refinery was commissioned in 1963 and was the first of Alcoa’s three alumina refineries in WA.

It has an annual nameplate production capacity of 2.2 million metric tons and produces non-metallurgical alumina, making up 15 per cent of production, and smelter-grade alumina, which makes up the majority of production.

Today’s contract spans five years, with an initial three-year term to be potentially followed by a two-year option subject to SRG meeting performance KPIs.

SRG Global last traded at 59 cents on May 17.
