Sunstone Metals’ (STM) new assay results confirm the Alba target as a significant high-grade gold-copper porphyry discovery, located in the Bramaderos Project in southern Ecuador.

The new high results are from follow-up drill holes at BMDD021, BMDD022 and BMDD023.

Results near the surface include gold grades exceeding 1 gram per tonne (g/t) and copper grades exceeding 0.2 per cent.

All holes have intersected copper as chalcopyrite, bornite and covellite in variably veined
stockwork porphyry.

Notably, the main porphyry system at Albas has only been intersected in five drill holes to date and further drilling is underway. High grades so far include 60.7 metres at 1.01g/t gold and 0.19 per cent copper in BMDD021.

In hole BMDD022 mineralisation ended with 0.9 g/t and 0.23 per cent copper in the last 1.9-metre sample. This has now been extended, with assays pending.

Managing Director Malcolm Norris said these latest results are “extremely exciting”.

“We now have enough drilling and geological data to build a picture of a high-grade gold-copper porphyry system at Alba,” he said.

“We are generating grades which are consistently in line with or better than those seen in many of the most important porphyries around the world. We would encourage investors to compare the Alba grades with some of those world-class gold-copper porphyries.”

“We are also confident that the extensive electrical geophysical survey just completed at Alba and Limon will generate additional Alba-style drilling targets,” Mr Norris concluded.

On the market this morning, Sunstone was trading in the grey at 7.8 cents share at 11:35 am AEDT.
