Australia’s premiere mining investment event, Diggers and Dealers, is on again in Kalgoorlie next week.
Last year Diggers saw 2650 people descend on the outback mining town.
As well as all the exhibitions and presentations, there’s an event called the Kalgoorlie Super PITch, which sees companies compete to perform the best brief company spiel.
It’s held at the Beaten Track Brewery in Kalgoorlie and everyone attending the Super PITch gets to vote for the best spiel. A $1000 prize will be donated to the charity of the winning speaker’s choice. The event is created by Corporate Storytime and Discovery Capital Partners and the MC for the event is mining investment play Lion Selection Group, CEO, Hedley Widdup.
Global mid-tier accounting firm RSM Australia is the gold sponsor. RSM’s WA Metals and Mining Lead, Carl Di Lorenzo, hopes the event might help to reinvigorate IPO activity on the ASX, particularly in relation to battery metals projects.
“It would be great to see the IPO market reignite, I have no doubt there’s a vast array of battery metals assets that are looking to IPO,” he said.
“It’s just a matter of whether investors have seen the bottom of the cycle and they’re willing and courageous to really back it and get behind the battery metals sector again.
“There’s no secret that the need for batteries and storage is ever-growing.
“Mining is a long game and these things don’t happen overnight, so (…) we might have to act now to secure the pipeline for the next 5-8 years to ensure that we have sustained battery metals to feed demand.
“The (Kalgoorlie) Super PITch is a unique offering, it gives junior exploration and mining companies that 3 minute pitch to a crowd, to give the critical pieces of information that can really trigger a thought and spark an interest.
“We see it as a great event that see both the investors and the companies to connect, we see it as a great way to harness the next success story.”
