Synertec wins $11bn Melbourne Metro project

Synertec Corporation has successfully delivered yet another important contract with the Cross Yarra Partnership (CYP) in the infrastructure sector.

The awarded contract is part of a multi-billion dollar Public Private Partnership which includes the design and construction of twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five underground stations.

Synertec is also responsible for providing ongoing maintenance and other services for the infrastructure developed for the Melbourne Metro Tunnel.

“We are delighted to have successfully completed this valuable contract for a major Australian Infrastructure project on time and on budget,” Managing Director Michael Carroll said.

The Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project will create a new end-to-end rail line from Sunbury in the west to Cranbourne/Pakenham in the south-east, with high capacity trains and five new underground stations.

This project will allow more than a half a million additional passengers per week across Melbourne’s train network to use the rail system during the peak periods.

The company was approached by CYP to undertake the interim design for the Tunnel Ventilation Control System and Building Management System for Melbourne’s $11 billion Metro Tunnel works.

These system designs were integrated into an Advanced Integrated Control System (AICS). These systems are crucial for the safety of the general travelling public.

This work is consistent with the company’s targeted areas of expertise. The contract further demonstrates Synertec’s growth strategy as an innovative leader in the engineering sector.

“Delivery of such a significant contract validates our team’s industry-leading technical and project management expertise in complex life-critical control safety system solutions applied to very large projects,” Michael Carroll added.

The company is continuing to grow its AICS expertise allowing for the design, implementation and regulation of functional safety control systems for major infrastructures such as this one.

The ability to install new AICS systems positions Synertec well for even more high value partnerships and projects in the future.
