Talga (TLG) has begun a 30-hole drill program at its Vittangi graphite project in northern Sweden.

The company is aiming to identify new resources by testing electromagnetic conductors and JORC exploration targets between the Niska South and Niska North deposits.

The drill program is expected to be complete next month, with a revision of graphite resources anticipated for the end of the year.

Talga said it is witnessing strong demand for its European source of anode for lithium-ion batteries, and is preparing the project for future expansion options.

“Talga’s Vittangi graphite project is a world-class Tier-1 asset for battery anode production whose scale remains to be fully defined,” Managing Director Mark Thompson said.

“We are excited to start drilling the Niska Link prospect to support future expansion options, aligned with our customers’ battery production roadmaps and strong graphite anode demand.”

Before the market opened, Talga shares were trading at $1.57 each.
