Talisman Mining (TLM) is set to begin a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Blind Calf Copper prospect in central New South Wales.

The Blind Calf Copper prospect is part of Talisman’s 2500-square kilometre Lachlan Project which lies within the Northern Cobar Basin.

The project includes a number of prospects located along the Canbelego-Mineral Hill Volcanic Belt, which hosts the high-grade Mt Boppy gold deposit, as well as the Mineral Hill gold and base metal deposit.

Drilling will test four electromagnetic (EM) conductors believed to represent primary copper mineralisation. Talisman identified the EM conductors from down-hole EM surveys undertaken last year.

Last year, Talisman drilled several RC holes which targeted three previously identified mineralised corridors at Hilltop and Engine. This was followed by the down-hole EM surveys that detected conductors across several locations.

So far, most of the exploration drilling has been directed towards the
Blind Calf and Dunbar’s structures, where high-grade copper mineralisation has been intersected in bedrock drilling.

Previous results include seven metres at 5.68 per cent copper from 98 metres, 13 metres at 5.71 per cent copper from 129 metres, and 11 metres at 4.78 per cent copper from 127 metres.

These results provide encouragement for Talisman’s upcoming drilling program which is scheduled to begin in the next few days.

Company shares ended the day trading flat at 11.5 cents.
