Tesoro Gold (TSO) has identified widespread outcropping gold mineralisation at its El Zorro gold project in Chile.
The company has received results for 159 channel samples taken as part of a first-pass mapping and sampling program at the Animas Viejas target.
Of the results, 23 samples reported assays greater than 0.1 grams of gold per tonne (g/t) in outcrop, with hits of up to two metres at 2.78 g/t gold.
Tesoro said it had now identified prospective geology and outcropping gold results occurring within a north-south trending corridor over 50 kilometres long and up to 15 kilometres wide.
Anomalous results also defined a “highly-prospective” target covering seven kilometres by two kilometres, associated with intrusive rocks of similar composition to the main gold host rocks at Ternera.
“We are continually impressed by the expanding scale of the El Zorro Gold System: these are impressive first-pass results over virgin ground and further validate our belief that El Zorro has the potential to host multiple one million ounce gold deposits,” Tesoro Managing Director Zeff Reeves said.
Tesoro said work was still ongoing to define future “lookalike” drill targets nearby.
Tesoro Gold shares last traded at 3.4 cents.
