LinQ Minerals (ASX: LNQ) was an early riser on positive results from its Phase 1 maiden drilling program at the Monza gold-copper prospect at the Gilmore project in the Macquarie Arc, NSW.

Executive chair, Clive Donner, said the results further confirm a system of porphyry copper-gold mineralisation related to a complex of monzonite and monzodiorite intrusives.

“We continue to intersect shallow thick copper mineralisation from near surface at Monza. The prospect remains open in all directions, including a one km strike between Monza and Estoril,” Mr Donner said.

“We are highly encouraged by our maiden drill campaign at Monza and planning is currently underway to follow up with additional drilling to test the size of the system.”

LNQ was up 12.5% to 45.0¢.

St Barbara (ASX: SBM) was popular on HotCopper on news it had signed an agreement with Lingbao Gold Group for the sale of the New Simberi and the Tabar Islands exploration licenses in PNG.

Upon completion of the transaction St Barbara is to receive $410 million in cash and a $43 million cash repayment representing St Barbara’s share of construction capital for New Simberi between April 2026 and signing of the binding agreement.

“This transaction will crystallise substantial value for St Barbara shareholders and allows the company to focus on the development of the Nova Scotia gold projects and the attractive exploration portfolio surrounding the 15-Mile Processing Hub,” St Barbara MD and CEO, Andrew Strelein, said.

“The company’s interest in New Simberi has never been fully reflected in the company’s share price and this transaction resolves that situation at a logical point for Lingbao to take full control of New Simberi.”

SBM jumped 17.5% to 85.8¢.

Unity Metals (ASX: UM1) was up after a review further confirmed the potential of the O’Phlay gold project in Cambodia.

The company obtained positive returns from the integration of recently collected magnetic susceptibility and vein orientation data from drill core at O’Phlay and the recent Camp prospect discovery.

“The collection of systematic vein orientation and magnetic susceptibility readings on our drill core and then the integration of this data with our 50m line spaced UAV magnetics is a game changer for our exploration at O’Phlay,” MD, Craig Mackay, said.

“We now believe the broad zone of gold-bearing stockwork mineralisation discovered at O’Phlay has an NE-ENE trend and is directly associated with a demagnetised zone within a major NE-ENE trending magnetic anomaly.”

UM1 was up 19.4% to 21.5¢.

Looking wider, the S&P/ASX 200 started lower today, dropping 130.40 points or 1.46% to 8,781.00 and setting a new 20-day low.

The bottom performing stocks in this index are Iperionx and Firefly Metals, down 9.32% and 5.80% respectively.

The index has lost 2.65% for the last five days, but is virtually unchanged year to date.
