Tivan Ltd (ASX:TVN) is moving forward with development of its Speewah fluorite project in Western Australia, with work kicking off next week following the company’s receipt of a Work Program Heritage Survey undertaken by Traditional Owners.

The survey has provided cultural clearance for Tivan to begin ground-disturbing work at the play – located 110 kilometres southwest of Kununurra – with the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety being informed that exploration will begin from October 16.

This followed on from an announcement last month that it had secured approval for a significant Program of Work (POW) for field activities at the project, with this to be further subject to a Heritage Protection Agreement agreed by the Kimberley Land Council.

In support of its imminent drilling work, Tivan has also secured a ‘Licence to Take Water’.

Tiwan is looking to set up a mining and processing project for fluorite ore, with a goal of producing acid grade fluorspar, with a prefeasibility study in July showing that this was both technically and economically viable.

Speewah holds a JORC-compliant Indicated and Inferred Resource of 37.3 million tonnes at 9.1% calcium fluoride – or CaF2 – (at a 2% CaF2 cut-off grade) for 3.39 million tonnes CaF2.

Executive chairman Grant Wilson said the company was looking forward to breaking ground at the play.

β€œThe Board of Tivan wishes to acknowledge our constructive working relationship with the Traditional Owners of Speewah and the extensive cultural heritage processes that have been completed this year,” he said.

“These workflows have enabled Tivan to commence on country in good time, whilst also establishing the foundations for durable alignment through the project life cycle.”

Investors seemed impressed wth the news, and by 10:53 AEDT, Tivan shares were trading at 5 cents – a rise of 4.17% since the market opened.
